A delegation led by the Deputy Minister for Energy (Petroleum), Hon. Mohammed Amin Adam has officially handed over the five beneficiaries of a one-year specialized welding training programme to the leadership of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) in Edmonton, Canada.
Aker Energy Ghana Limited has over the past few months been engaging the Transport and Energy Ministries on matters relating to The Tema Shipyard.To this effect, a delegation from Aker Energy visited the Shipyard this week to understand its business operations and future outlook.
PSC Tema Shipyard has for some time been waiting on the government of Ghana to select a Strategic Investor (SI) to revamp the Yard into an ultramodern facility. Although this is the expectation of workers and managers, there has also been concerns that the move may result in some job losses, or the deal may not be favourable for Ghana and the workers of the Shipyard.
The new life at the Tema Shipyard Limited, among other things, has put the facility in pole position in the sub-region to become the number one heavy steel and aluminum fabrication and dry docking and repair works yard.
Six companies have been shortlisted to participate in the bidding process to partner government for the development of the Tema Shipyard and Dry-Dock.
They include Dormac Marine & Engineering, Ladol Freezone Enterprise, Secant Technologies, Submarine Holding Limited, Strategic Security Systems and Life Forms Limited.
