Giving is not just about making donation. It is about making a difference”. – Kathy Calvin

To give meaning to this quote, a delegated staff of Africa Star Fisheries donated two (2) boxes of nose masks, each containing 50 pieces to PSC Tema Shipyard Ltd (Shipyard) on the Wednesday 25th March 2020. Africa Star Fisheries is a customer of the Shipyard.

The kind gesture which is their contribution to the Shipyard’s measures to contain the spread of the Coronavirus disease (COVID 19) was timely, given the potency of the threat it poses to the health and safety of the general workforce as well as cherished clients of the Yard.

As vessels from Coronavirus infected countries continue to call on the Yard for maintenance and repairs works, the nose masks provide protection to frontline officers especially Security, Clinic Sales & Marketing and Yard Operations staff. Wearing of nose masks are effective when used in combination with frequent handwashing with soap under running water, cleansing with alcohol-based hand sanitizer in the absence of soap and running water and adherence to the 2m minimum “social distance” rule.

Receiving the nose masks on behalf of the Shipyard, the manager responsible for Human Resource & Administration in the presence of the Commercial Manager expressed the appreciation of the Management and staff of the Shipyard to Africa Star Fisheries for their thoughtfulness.

Management hereby reminds staff as well as customers and visitors to the Shipyard to adhere strictly to the various protocols outlined by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the national COVID-19 Management Team to halt the spread of the disease.
